An Alcohol Dependent Person Goes to Rehab, Gets Alcohol Detoxification and Treatment For His Alcohol Dependency and His Depression, and Starts to Live More Exuberantly
Apr 14Barry used to talk big to his buddies how he could maintain a 40 hour per week job and get smashed almost every night. Sadly, after involving himself in this destructive lifestyle for approximately five years, he started to manifest a variety of alcohol related difficulties.
Barry Starts to Have Several Alcohol Related Issues
For example, he had a very hard time getting up for work because he felt so sleepy when he awoke. Not only this, but virtually every morning Barry experienced a severe hangover. Without a doubt, the combination of his lack of energy and his hangovers did not make it easy for him to get up and feel motivated to go to work. To make things worse, nearly a week ago he received his second drunk driving arrest in the past eight weeks.
To further complicate things, at work his last two work assessments were less than acceptable. And finally, his five-year relationship with his girlfriend had deteriorated due to his angry outbursts, lack of patience, financial difficulties, and his depression.
Even though Barry was only twenty six years old, he simply began to look like he was in his mid thirties. Unfortunately, this is what hazardous and careless drinking can do to an individual. And from a realistic perspective he realized that he was suffering from the negative consequences of alcohol abuse or alcohol addiction and that he was too young to throw away his life to excessive and abusive drinking. So initially he tried to drink in moderation. Sadly, he soon realized that he lost all control after consuming his first drink. Stated another way, after his first drink he invariably proceeded to get intoxicated. Due to the fact that this was a circumstance that was repeated again and again, this bothered him greatly. In truth, he began to wonder if he was displaying some of the signs of alcoholism and alcohol abuse.
Barry Makes up His Mind To Schedule an Appointment to See His Family Doctor
After going over his excessive alcohol consumption and his careless drinking with his girlfriend, he eventually made up his mind to schedule an appointment to see his doctor. When Barry saw his family doctor, he sincerely mentioned that he has been drinking in an excessive manner, that he may be displaying alcoholic signs, and that he wants to quit drinking. He then confirmed that drinking in moderation doesn’t work for him and, as a consequence, he wants to learn how he can live an alcohol-free life.
Barry also told his family doctor about his depression and how this mental health problem was negatively influencing his relationship with his lady friend. His healthcare practitioner referred Barry to Doctor Quealy, a drug and alcohol addiction psychiatrist, who influenced Barry to register in an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center as an in-patient for alcohol detoxification and alcohol rehabilitation. The good news is that Barry would also be able to get treatment for his depression at this treatment facility.
Getting and Staying Sober Was the Best Decision Barry Had Ever Made
After six months of intensive rehab, Barry left the in-patient rehab center and continued his recovery via outpatient counseling and via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Inspired to change his life in a healthier manner, Barry went to a health store and bought some vitamins and a cookbook. He then joined a gym and started working out three or four times per week. Within nine months Barry was a new person. He now looked younger than he was, he wasn’t depressed anymore, he was in shape, he was eating nutritious meals, and most important of all, he remained sober for numerous months. He also became more patient, he didn’t resort to angry outbursts, and he became a more caring individual in his relationship with his girlfriend. Stated simply, refraining from drinking was the best decision Barry had ever made.
